Organization Purpose
The idea of Nash Jem Elite started in 1998 in the hearts of sisters CJ Nash
and Jamishia E. Miller. It was created out of our desire and
need to make a diffrence in today's community and in the lives of tomorrow's leaders. And finally, two years later
in Oct. 2000, Nash Jem Elite All-Stars was born.
When a personal tradgedy happend within our
family it caused a great deal of heartache and emotional disturbance to us all. As the wounds of this
tradgedy begin to heal so did our desire to change the course of which our family was headed. In our search
to understand where we had been led us to understand the direction we wanted our family to go. It
was that kind of thinking that led us to understand that in order to change the future we must start with our future, the
children.
Jamishia having no children at the time and myself having only a 3 month old son, forced us to
focus all of our attention on our then 6yr old niece Lasharelle. And fourteen months later when
Nash Jem Elite All-Stars took the competition floor for the 1st time, we had grown to eighteen girls between the
ages of 5 and 8 years old.
Today less than eight year later, Nash Jem Elite All-Stars has over
a hundred members on eight diffrent teams. And after all these years, and the addition of our 2 other
sisters Trimona and Mary to our staff, and 3 more nieces (Kendall, Javaughn & Taelor), we still
have six of those original eighteen girls. Alex, Aliyah, Angie, Dominique, Sherdane and of course our 1st niece Lashrelle.
These ladies have watched and grown with NJEA from one cub to an entire pride of panthers.
Over the years, the all-star cheerleading industry has changed drastically and NJEA has evolved as well.
But our desire to make a diffrence and our passion and commitment to the community has remained.
In fact Nash Jem Elite is the only all-star program in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa that caters to our inner
city youths. Our mission to raise self-esteem, self-discipline, and self worth through competitive cheerleading remains.
And despite all that has changed in the industry, we are still the only all African American dominated all-star team
in the 4 state area.
Nash Jem Elite All- Stars currently hold more than 14 national tittles, dozens
of judges choice awards and too many 1st place trophies to count.
As we begin the 2008 - 2009 competitive
season, Nash Jem Elite All-Stars are without a doubt "the best getting better!"
Our Mission
